What Kind of Instrument Are You Becoming?
Jan 25, 2026
Throughout all of human history, there has been one shared search.
Freedom.
Happiness.
A sense of peace that feels real and lasting.
And yet, for so many of us, the question becomes:
How do I get there? What is the path? What am I supposed to do?
So we listen.
We gather information.
We take in advice from many places — often from people who genuinely want to help, who speak from love, care, and good intention.
And little by little, without even noticing, we begin to walk someone else’s path.
Until something shifts.
There comes a moment when we stop searching outside…
and we encounter something within.

The Encounter With the Heart
When we come into contact with our own heart, something opens. A door. A portal. ๐
A conscious connection with all of creation. Not because we were ever disconnected, but because we become aware of the connection that has always been there.
The elders remind us of something simple and profound:
we are always connected to Spirit, to the power that leads and directs life.
That power inhabits all things. It experiences itself through the tree, the bird, the butterfly, the water, the stars… and through us.
The work, then, is not to create connection, but to become conscious of it.
The elders say that awakening consciousness is learning to witness the presence of the Great Spirit in our life.
To recognize this immense power:
- seeing through our eyes,
- hearing through our ears,
- speaking our words,
- and even thinking our thoughts.
When we begin to recognize this, the search stops.
It is said that our being remembers why it came here.
The truth of its purpose becomes clear:
To be an instrument through which the love of the universe flows.
Because the Creator of life is an infinite fountain of love, experiencing itself in a dual way through everything that exists.
And when we recognize this design, we begin to make peace with our light and our dark. With what feels clear and what does not.
Nothing is here by accident.
Everything is here with a purpose.
Everything is at service.
Choosing Where to Place Our Attention
When we stop fighting what doesn’t feel good, something important happens.
We realize we can choose.
โ We can choose where to place our attention.
โ We can choose how this power flows through us.
If I place my attention from love and gratitude, even recognizing the blessings within my difficulties, I begin to illuminate my darkness.
I recognize that a power is flowing through me — and that I get to decide how to direct it.
If I choose anger, judgment, or chaos, this infinite power respects my choice.
But I can also choose a beautiful life, where I align my thoughts with my heart.
And I begin to think beautifully.
GRATITUDE IS FORCE OF TRANSFORMATION
And then comes a very honest question:
With so many difficulties, how can I think beautifully?
Here, the elders speak of a great power —gratitude.
Even in difficulty, we give thanks for what is present.
If one knee hurts, we are grateful for the other.
If one hand is in pain, we honor the one that works.
This begins to transform everything.
Because what we bring into ourselves is what comes out of us.
What we feel is what we project.
What we project is what impacts the world.
What Kind of Instrument Do You Choose to Be?
This is the choice each one of us gets to make.
An instrument of chaos, or an instrument of love and harmony.
How do we know when we are aligned with love?
Because we feel peace.
And peace is cultivated.
To feel peace, we bring forward memories and sensations of peace.
To feel happiness, we remember happiness.
This is how we choose what flows through us.
And the infinite power of creation — unconditional love — respects our choice.
Our ancestors taught by example:
to walk this earth as beautiful instruments of love and harmony.
And each one of us can choose, from here on forward, what kind of instrument we want to be.
May we always remember that we have the power of choice.
May we remember, even amidst chaos, that we can direct our attention toward blessing.
And may we do so with humility, placing our prayer in the hands of a greater power, to help us walk with clarity and with our heart.
A SEED TO CARRY
Today, notice what flows through you.
Your thoughts, your words, your reactions.
Ask yourself gently: What kind of instrument am I being right now?
And remember — you can choose again at any moment.
