Make Peace with Your Darkness

ancestral wisdom Nov 09, 2025

We all have parts of ourselves that feel heavy — moments of fear, anger, judgment, or insecurity.
Those are what our ancestors called our demons.

We often think of them as something bad, something to reject or fight against.
But the truth is, our darkness is not our enemy. It’s the very doorway to transformation.

Our demons...those uncomfortable emotions, the patterns we can’t seem to break, the side of us we try to hide, are actually guiding us toward our evolution.

They hold the greatest potential for energy, clarity, and self-mastery when we learn how to relate to them consciously.

THE FIRST STEP: HUMILITY

To walk any path of awakening, the first thing we must invoke is humility.
Humility to see ourselves clearly.
To recognize that we are human beings made of both light and shadow.

There is as much purpose in our darkness as in our light.
Every emotion, every reaction, every experience carries a sacred message when we meet it with openness instead of judgment.

So when we lose our balance — when something “takes us out of our center” and that inner beast rises, the work is not to fight it. The work is to observe it. (Draw an imaginary underline and exclamation points around this!).

It is in the act of observing with humility, where we begin to acquire the power to transform and transmute.

And for that, we must go to our heart.

OBSERVATION BRINGS POWER

When we observe ourselves with humility, something powerful happens.
We stop being consumed by the reaction, and we begin to see it.

In that moment, consciousness awakens.
We start to gain the power to transform — not through repression or force, but through awareness.

We don’t fight against ourselves. We simply notice.
Because fighting creates more chaos. Observing creates peace.

From that awareness, we remember our purpose — the being that we truly want to be.

THE ROLE OF PRAYER

In this moment, a beautiful possibility arises: prayer.

Prayer is not limited to religion. It’s a moment of connection — a direct line to the Source, the fountain of love that sustains everything.

That Source does not judge. It only transforms.

So when anger, fear, or pain rise within us, we give it to the Source.
We say: “Great Spirit, please take this energy and transform it”

And how do we ask it? We have a tool. It is called our thoughts, our mind.

We align our thoughts with our heart, and we create a beautiful vision.
Amidst the anger. Amidst the fury. We create a vision of peace. And we sustain this vision as much as we can. We ask the Source to help us sustain this vision in peace.

And if we do this...we become a witness of the magic. The alchemy

All of that fury turns in our favor.
When you hold that vision with sincerity, the energy that once drained you begins to move in your favor.
What was fury becomes fuel.
What was pain becomes presence.

FROM BATTLE TO BLESSING

When we make this a habit — to observe, surrender, and pray — we discover something incredible: that our demons were never against us.

They were our teachers.
They were the raw material for our growth.
They were the very experiences that could lead us to compassion, strength, and service.

Every time we meet our shadows with awareness, we gain energy.
We become more peaceful, more available, more capable of love.

And eventually, we learn to thank our demons.

Because they were the catalysts for our evolution.
They were the reason we learned to pray.
They were the doorway to love.

A SEED TO CARRY

The same energy that fuels your anger or fear can become your greatest power when met with awareness.
Don’t suppress it — transform it.

That’s the art of inner alchemy, and it’s available to you in every moment.
