The Powerful Practice of Dissolving the Ego

ancestral wisdom Oct 11, 2025

Of all the things I’ve learned from Indigenous elders over the years, this is one of the most powerful — and I use it every single day: the practice of dissolving (or disintegrating) the ego.

It’s simple, yet deeply transformative.
It expands awareness, helping us become conscious of our thoughts in real time — catching what doesn’t serve and stopping dense ideas from draining our energy.

THE SACRED CLOWN

Our ancestors lived in sacred relationship with life.

They observed the purpose of the Creator in all that exists and recognized the duality of the universe as part of Its divine design. Because of this, they made peace with life’s contrasts and learned to see everything as a conscious experience of connection with Spirit.

They recognized the presence of Spirit — the presence of Love — in all things, and therefore the inherent blessings within everything.

To our ancestors, the ego wasn’t “bad”. It was an opportunity.
Our ego is one of the greatest teachers in the expansion of consciousness.

The ego, they said, is a sacred clown. It is not evil. It is simply playing its role within the game of life. And it has a gift embedded within it.

The gift that our ego gives us is high levels of energy and clarity, in the manner in which we don’t feed it.

This is where the practice of dissolving the ego becomes so powerful.

THE DUALITY OF CREATION WITHIN US

Our ancestors saw that all creation exists in duality — day and night, man and woman, movement and stillness. They also recognized this dual design within.

Inside of us there are two great forces: the ego and the heart.

  • The ego distracts, creates chaos, and drains our energy when left unchecked.
  • The heart is our source of clarity, peace, and joy  — the point of absolute connection with the Great Spirit. Through the heart, our energy expands, and we access a greater intelligence that guides and sustains all of life.

Our ancestors understood that both forces are sacred.

It’s not about good or bad. It's is about recognizing the gift that each one brings and consciously aligning our life to make the best out of these two forces.

This is free will.

DISSOLVING THE EGO

This ancient practice is very simple, but has immense power.

Here’s how it goes:
Whenever a dense thought, judgment, fear, or void arises in your mind, say silently within yourself:

“Disintegrate this, Great Spirit.”

And don’t continue to feed it.

How simple. How easy. How beautiful.

At first, it might feel hard. We’ve let the ego run loose for so long —fixating, analyzing, needing to controlBut there is a much larger intelligence that guides us when we open ourselves to it.

With practice, you begin catching thoughts as soon as they arise.

This is huge — because the moment you observe, you are no longer trapped. You have reclaimed your power.

I’ve practiced this for nearly ten years now, and I can say that it has been one of the most empowering tools of my life. It’s helped me become deeply aware of my thoughts, and what I allow to circulate in the sacred temple of my being.

It has taught me

βœ“ to be watchful of energy
βœ“ to keep my inner altar clear
βœ“ to return to my center quickly when something feels heavy or misaligned

A SEED TO CARRY

Dissolve your ego this week and repeat it as many times as needed.
Some thoughts and fears run deep; they may return again and again. That’s okay.

Each time one rises, say softly within yourself:

“Disintegrate this, Great Spirit.”

Do it as many times as necessary — every time you catch yourself getting pulled back into the same mental loop. Each time you dissolve it, you reclaim your energy and open space for clarity and peace to return.

“Begin with prayer, and everything that follows carries the power of creation itself.”
