You Don't Have to Carry the Suffering of the World
Jun 30, 2026
Today, we have access to more information than any generation before us. Within minutes, we can read about wars, natural disasters, violence, political conflict, economic uncertainty, and the pain of people living on the other side of the planet.
Our hearts naturally respond. We want the world to be at peace.
And little by little, we begin carrying a weight that was never ours to carry.
Our elders offered a very different way of relating to this.
They taught us that our journey on this Earth is, by nature, a dual experience.
There is beauty AND difficulty. There is light AND dark.
As far back as we know, the story of humanity has included both.
Perhaps where we have gone wrong is not in recognizing that there is suffering in the world, but in the way we have been taught to relate to it.

Ancient cultures understood something that many of us have forgotten: life is a dual experience, There are "good" experiences and "bad" experiences. Both are part of the human experience. The question is not whether challenges, conflict, or suffering will exist. The question is how we choose to meet them.
Do they become a reason to judge, condemn, fear, or lose hope? Or can they become an invitation to deepen our compassion, strengthen our spirit, and trust that life is unfolding with a wisdom greater than our own?
This doesn't mean we become indifferent. It means we learn to relate to density differently.
This can feel counterintuitive because we live in a world where our attention is constantly being pulled toward what is wrong. Every day we are invited to witness more conflict, more tragedy, more reasons to worry about the future. Without realizing it, we begin carrying burdens that were never ours to carry.
Our elders taught something else: Our role is not to carry the suffering of the entire world.
Our role is to fully inhabit the place where life has placed us.
✔️ Care for our family
✔️ Strengthen our community
✔️ Bring beauty to the conversations we have, the work we do, and the people whose lives we touch
Instead of trying to save the whole world, we begin tending to the small corner of creation that has been placed in our hands.
Serving Without Carrying
Our elders remind us that Spirit knows what it is doing, even in the chaos. There is always a greater purpose unfolding that our minds cannot always see.
From there, something beautiful becomes possible.
We pray for those who are suffering. We send love. And we serve where we can.
But we do it from a place of peace, not from fear, guilt, or from feeling that the world depends entirely on us.
One of the greatest shifts in consciousness is realizing that we do not have to become the savior of the world.
The Great Spirit is already present within every experience. Every person is walking their own path of learning. Every challenge carries its own medicine.
When we look honestly at our own lives, we can also see this.
The moments we once wished had never happened often became the moments that humbled us, strengthened us, and taught us what truly matters.
The suffering we experienced became part of our own path of awakening.
Realizing this doesn't remove our compassion. If anything, it deepens it.
And then our compassion no longer comes from trying to rescue people. It comes from honoring their journey, with dignity. And trusting that Spirit is also walking with them.
This changes our relationship with the world's pain. Instead of becoming consumed by it, we become available to serve. And there is a profound difference between serving out of love and serving because we believe the world depends on us.
One comes from peace, the other comes from fear.
In the Darkness, Turn on Your Light
Our ancestors taught that when darkness appears, we do not become darker ourselves. Amidst the darkness, we must turn on our own light.
And this means that we do our part to become a healthy cell within the larger unit of humanity. Because a healthy cell strengthens the entire organism.
Perhaps the greatest lesson we’ve been transmitted is that our well-being is not separate from the healing of the world. In fact, our well-being is one of the greatest contributions we can make to it.
A SEED TO CARRY
Pray for peace.
Send your love.
Do what is yours to do.
And let the Great Spirit carry the rest.
