The Ancient Altar Within
Sep 14, 2025
There’s something profound that happens when you carry an ancient altar. Whether it’s a sacred pipe, a ceremonial container, or an instrument for prayer, these aren’t just objects — they are inter-dimensional portals of creation. Tools left by Spirit to help us live well and consciously.
To carry an altar is to step into a lineage, a blessing, a living teacher. The altar itself provides guidance. It shows you how to align yourself, how to walk, how to live in prayer. To carry it is to receive immense support for the journey of life.
Life changes when you carry an altar. Everything exponentiates and materializes faster; whether its your light or your darkness. This means you must become watchful. Attentive to what you allow through your mind, your heart, your words, and your actions.
Because what you feed, grows. Always.
But here’s the deeper truth: we have all been given an altar by creation itself.
When consciousness expands, we see that all of life is ceremony. The whole earth is an altar. And our own body — our mind, our heart, our soul — is the first and most ancient altar we will ever carry.
In many ways, I see carrying an altar like becoming a parent. You never truly feel ready. But the child itself, just as the altar, teaches you how to walk with it. The journey shapes you. You learn through experience.
Just like an external altar, our inner altar teaches us. It tells us what our body needs, how energy flows, and if we're truly aligned with the truth of our heart. But we only receive this wisdom when we pay attention. When we stop being distracted and become present, we can hear the guidance that has been embedded within us all along.
WALKING WITH THIS AWARENESS
So what does this look like in everyday life? How do we tend to the altar within us — this living portal of creation?
1. Pay Attention.
Be conscious of what passes through your being: your thoughts, fears, emotions, desires. Notice without judgment. Just as in ceremony we keep the altar clear — cleansing with sage or cedar, aligning every element so the prayers can flow — we too must tend to our inner altar. Attention keeps the flow harmonious.
2. Disintegrate the Ego.
When a thought arises that is misaligned with your heart, don’t feed it. Offer it to Spirit, saying silently within yourself: “Disintegrate this, Great Spirit.”
3. Redirect.
Shift your attention. Change the channel. Move your body, breathe, step outside- do something to help you shift the energy. Always with the help of God, through prayer first. There is always a good way to redirect your energy, with integrity.
This is how to stay aligned — not through force or control, but through presence, humility, and the willingness to let Spirit guide.
THE BLESSINGS OF AN ALTAR
To carry an altar is a responsibility. But it is also an immense blessing. Through it, you are given access to power — the power to create, to heal, to transform.
This power doesn’t come from us. It flows from creation itself, from the infinite fountain of love that is the Creator, and from our willingness to become fine-tuned instruments of Spirit.
As we walk forward carrying ancient altars, the elders have reminded us of something essential: the deepest communion with the altar comes when you recognize that you are the altar itself. At the deepest level, our own body and soul are the most ancient altar of all.
When we recognize this, everything shifts. We begin to listen to the wisdom that is always communicating through our body and our heart. We remember that we have the power to redirect our energy, to make peace with the many forces within us — whether pleasant or difficult — and to receive the gift each one carries.
And perhaps most beautifully, we remember that all of life is ceremony. A sacred unfolding guided by the Creator. When we walk with this awareness, we see what we could not see before. We relate to life with reverence.
We discover that every moment, every breath, every step, is part of a prayer already in motion.
